Mario Castellitto has spent his entire career handling a broad
range of litigated matters in State and Federal courts including
civil and criminal defense, insurance coverage disputes and
commercial matters from inception through trial.
Mr. Castellitto earned his Bachelor of Science
degree in Finance from Fordham University. He received his
Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Pace University
School of Law in 1993. While at Pace, Mr. Castellitto served
as a Research and Writing Editor with the Pace Law Review.
As a third year law student he also prosecuted misdemeanor
domestic violence cases as a Student District Attorney with
the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office in Pace’s
first prosecutorial Criminal Justice Clinic program, and served
as the student liaison to the faculty Intern Advisory Board.
He is the recipient of the New York State Bar Association,
Committee on Legal Education & Admission to the Bar, 1993
Law Student Legal Ethics Award.
Mr. Castellitto specializes in the defense
of construction accident, construction defect, professional liability, premises liability,
motor vehicle and civil rights matters. His insurance coverage
practice includes all aspects of insurance and reinsurance
litigation. Reported decisions include: Hammond v. Village
of Elmsford, 8 A.D.3d 484, 779 N.Y.S. 2d 95 (2d Dept.
2004); Purdy v. Town of Greenburgh, 248 F.Supp.2d
266 (S.D.N.Y. 2003); L.B. v. Town of Chester, 232
F.Supp.2d 227 (S.D.N.Y. 2002); Bank of Nova Scotia v.
Structure Tone, Inc., 303 A.D.2d 273 (1st. Dept. 2003); Maryland Casualty Company v. W.R. Grace & Co.,
1996 WL 109068 (S.D.N.Y. 1996).
Mr. Castellitto is admitted to practice
before the bar of the State of New York and the United States
District Court for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New
York. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New
York State Bar Association, and Association of the Bar of
the City of New York where he formerly served as Secretary
of the Criminal Courts Committee and Member of the Criminal
Law Committee. He is a frequent lecturer on insurance coverage
and defense topics.
Mr. Castellitto is an avid Yankee fan and
equestrian. He serves as a Little League Baseball coach and
Pop Warner Youth Tackle League Football coach in Westchester
County where he resides with his wife and two children. As
a member of the Pelham Bay Equestrian Association, he assisted
in securing funding for major capital improvements to the
public equestrian trail ways in lower Westchester and Bronx
Counties. |
